Political Parties and Hypocrisy

Post by Mithrandir777 »

Well, it's a pun ripe for the taking when a political party - namely the governing Conservative party in the UK - have themselves a jolly little Christmas party at 10 Downing Street against the covid restrictions they have mandated through parliament for the electorate who voted them in to 'govern'. It underlines the hypocrisy of power elites in general, and not just in the UK of course, but globally. Any thoughts?

Yes, the hypocrisy is astounding. It's one thing after another now, the incumbent Tories are just riding slipshod over any meaningful standards of democracy - as they have done throughout the decades. There can be no doubt that there are countless other examples of double-standards that will never come to light. Democracy needs whistleblowers - but just look what's happening to Julian Assange right now. The money and power henchmen seem to get their way more often than not, riding slipshod over genuine democracy.

This harkens back to the Dominic Cummings jolly to Durham at the height of the first lockdown. These public school brats don't seem to think they have to abide by the same rule as the plebs.

UK politics has become truly farcical under the current 'regime', almost to the level of that in the US under Trump - and of course they are, in the final analysis, governed by the same capitalist puppetmasters and the same set of ethics. (That's not to say, for one minute, that things are better in the likes of China, Russia and many parts of Africa, for example).

Bozo has proven himself a pathological liar (do they teach this at Eton?).

Take a look at this story. Cocaine use amongst MPs at Westminister?! Again, if true, another example of the hypocrisy of those who govern us (our 'elected' 'representatives' or - even more of a misnomer - public 'servants'. Just more proof that it's a mere sham democracy, or, more accurately, #demockracy (you can search the hashtag on FB for further examples):

To lighten things up a bit, sometimes it's good to shame these charlatans by poking fun at them as these guys are doing here:

UK politics has now descended into high farce with the news that, following Liz Truss's cameo role at the helm of the Conservatives, Boris Johnson is in the running to join the race for the new PM only a couple of months after his disgraced tenure came to an end. To make matters worse, there are apparently a large number of Conservative MPs prepared to support him!!! This tells you that a) The Tories are deluded and utterly out of touch with the country, and therefore not fit to govern, and/or b) they are taking the electorate for absolute fools if they think they can foist this utter fake onto them a second time only months after he was removed. Johnson is himself so deluded, egotistical and devoid of any shred of morality that it's no surprise he considers himself a viable candidate, but the amount of support he is receiving beggars belief, and says all you need to know about the Conservative Party as a whole.

Fortunately they're not all completely deluded and at the moment of writing it's not clear whether Johnson has enough backing to stand.

Well she's gone now, and Johnson decided not to stand (probably because he knew he wasn't going to receive the 100-MP backing required, despite the intimation by Rees-Mogg that he had reached this threshold. Both Rees-Mogg and Johnson have been deceitful from start to finish, and it's heartening that neither are going to play a key role in the new Cabinet. The new incumbent, Rishi Sunak, is the latest in the carousel of Conservative MPs to make a stab at leading the country. He's hardly likely to be worse than Truss or Johnson, and appears to stand further to the Left (i.e. nearer to the Centre) of them, but there are already reasons to seriously doubt his integrity, not least with the reappointment of Suella Braverman as Home Secretary only a couple of weeks after she resigned due to indiscrepancies. Additionally, of course, Sunak has a mandate from only a tiny proportion of the electorate, i.e. the 100 or so MPs who nominated him, although he does appear intent on reverting to the original election manifesto, which is one step in the right direction. The jury is out for sure, but let's see how things pan out over the coming weeks and months because Labour's demands for another General Election are almost certainly going to fall on stony ground at this point in time.
